The life of a Mother

We all had some form of the flu this past week, which was no fun. Brooklyn had to miss her field trip to the zoo on Thursday with her class which she was so sad about! She kept adamantly denying that she was sick between diarrhea and throw up episodes. The good news was that it only lasted for 24 hours. Which reminds me...did I mention that Thursday was a bad day? Not only did we have a sick baby, we had a hurt baby. Nothing too serious, but there was still blood all over. Apparently, Brooklyn was rocking Brielle a little too fast on our rocking chair stool, and she fell off somehow and was bleeding non stop! I couldn't figure out where it was coming from, it was all over - it was also 8:15pm, they had JUST gotten out of the bath, and my husband still hadn't come home for the day. As I'm trying to clean her up, Brooklyn runs over and throws up all over. In the mean time, I have called my husband and told him that he needed to get home now, because I needed some help. He managed to make it home in record time, and even sent over reinforcement for the mean time. All turned out fine. This is a major toned down version of what Brielle looked like.

Brooklyn managed to have a few funny moments here and there. I walked by a clock and noticed there was something smeared all over it. I proceeded to have a conversation that went something like this:

Me: Brooklyn, what is all over the clock?
Brooklyn: Um, I think it's just lipstick.
Me: Who did this?
Brooklyn: Um...Daddy did it.
Me: Daddy did it?
Brooklyn: Yeah, but don't be mad at him, because he didn't mean to, it was just an accident.
Me: Well, let's go ask Daddy what happened.
Brooklyn: (runs away and hides)

WHAT?????

When did my daughter start making up stories like that? We have had to have conversations about telling the truth lately. She was cracking all her teachers up on Wednesday. Every morning in the car we listen to the "Enchanted" CD that she got for her Birthday (by Kail and Mia - thanks Kodi) and she knows ALL the words by heart now and LOVES to sing them at the top of her lungs. So, we were walking into school and their she is singing away loud and clear for all to hear about "true loves first kiss" I was busting up. They reminded me there was a talent show coming up...hmmm...I wonder what her talent could be??? She is so funny because the first half of that CD is music/singing, and the last half is instrumental. She always asks me "Mom, why is this part of the song sad (or mad, or happy, or whatever the music seems to be doing at the moment). It's pretty amazing how right on she seems to be about what the music is doing at the moment - who knew she was so in touch with her feelings? Something else to note, Brielle is starting to walk. She loves holding onto Brooklyn and walking around, it's kind of funny. She'll crawl up to her and hold her arms out for her to help her and giggle. It's pretty cute.

I am so sorry about the whole flu thing!!!!
-Even though we all hate it when our kids tell stories, especially when we know that is exactly what they are doing,...you have to admit that was pretty funny!

Holy Cow Kim. Thursday?! That sounds so horrible. And somehow the fact that it happened at the end of the day when you're already so exhausted and Mike still wasn't home makes it all the more unbearable. You always seem so able to handle all that mommy stress on top of EVERYTHING else you do. Super mama. Hope everything's better in your house.

Did I see a missed call from you the other day?

Sick days are no fun. We haven't had to deal with too much blood(knock on wood),but we have had quite a few experiences with the throwup--YUCK! GLad it wasn't too serious.
I love looking at your blog--you guys are so cute. IT is good to know Mike can handle all the estrogen that must be in the air there--hahahh--take care
